I have got some trouble with local law enforcement due to my motorsport wing. Was ok for 10 years but once they have an eye on you.....
Looking for an original Exige S1 wing. Any colour or Carbon.
Might keep the motorsport wing for trackdays or sell it.
I am located in the South of Holland.
Could not find it on ebay.
UK seller will not ship it. Will email the German seller as I know him from my S2 hub conversion. See if the uprights/legs are included.
Unfortunate that the UK seller won't ship, as that one has the standard legs included.
Anyone in the Hastings/Eastbourne area on exiges.com that could collect it and send it to you? If it was nearer to me, I'd be happy to help...
I contacted him. He is willing to ship. Waiting for shipping costs. Our main concern is shipping safety.
Also found one local so in the end I will have one
Thanks for the help!
Now have to think if I will sell the motorsport one. Love it really :(
What was the issue with the motorsport wing if you don't mind me asking?
Not minding at all.
There is no technical issue with the motorsport wing. It really kept the car planted on Spa after adjustments.
But the local police and Dutch DVLA variant are giving me trouble with it. Not sure how and if I can overcome that with the motorsport wing.
They basically say that it is overhanging the rear bodywork and there for dangerous for the weaker road users such as pedestrians and cyclists. On impact they have a higher possibility to get hurt by the wing and seriously injure themselves on the sharp rear of the blade. On the sides it is not sticking out, so that is good, but the rounded carbon plates are also considered dangerous.
They say even an original GT3 RS can get a ticket for it or revoke the license plate until rechecked at Dutch DVLA station.
Just in the middle of getting the car finished from suspension overhaul, s2 uprights, etc. This is the problem, overhanging the rear bodywork :
Cool car
Glad you got one!
Very happy with the car. Lots of work done in the last years.
New 2.5 Duratec engine and CR gearbox with plated lsd will be placed soon and then I can just relax, sit back, ... just kidding.
Ahh ok thanks for the heads up, I have a motorsport wing also but fortunately have never had any issues from the police etc
Hopefully it's just a Dutch thing ;)
And yes cool car BTW 8-)
Car looks superb. Pity you have to lose the MS wing
Car looks fantastic as it is. Is there anything that you could change with the end plates that would mean it was okay?
Thanks again :) I bought the Elise in 2009 because I could not slaughter an original Exige (back then below 20k you had one...)
Not much original anymore in regards of engine, cooling, uprights, brakes, etc
looked into the rules. If I place the wing within the bodywork and put a rubber on the edge on the back I might be ok’ish.
Just taking a gamble. Fed up with all the rules to be honest....
is the exige std wing not the same as the 2-11 std wing?
